Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental — Project KASIKAS was recently featured on Brigada News FM 99.7 Kabankalan on April 9, 2026 in an interview with host Andy Galve, where representatives shared the initiative’s purpose, progress, and vision for coastal and riverine communities in South Negros.

Project Coordinator John Bel R. Eseller and Project Head Aya Portia P. Gatuslao discussed the ongoing implementation of the project in Barangay Saraet, where it has been active for over eight months. They highlighted the positive changes observed among youth and children of fisherfolk, emphasizing the importance of sustained, community-based engagement in fostering empowerment and development.

The team explained that Project KASIKAS was established to support vulnerable coastal populations by strengthening youth development and encouraging active community participation. Through its activities, the initiative aims to create opportunities that promote learning, resilience, and long-term social impact.

The interview also acknowledged challenges faced during implementation, including resource limitations and field-based constraints. Despite these, the project team reaffirmed their commitment to continue advancing the initiative, driven by determination and a shared vision for community upliftment.

Looking forward, Project KASIKAS aims to expand its reach to additional coastal and riverine barangays across South Negros, with support from potential partners and stakeholders.

Organizers expressed hope that continued collaboration will further strengthen grassroots efforts and contribute to sustainable development in underserved communities.
