On January 17, 2026, 41 children from Purok 01, Brgy. Sara-et, Himamaylan City happily joined the first Saturday class of the PAGBASA Project. With the help of our dedicated PAGBASA volunteers, the children received their first lessons in English and Values in a fun and friendly learning environment.

The class was led by Wilfred Miranda, Area Coordinator of Himamaylan City, and PAGBASA Project Head Carla Ruam. They introduced Hinun-anon and explained the overview and goals of the PAGBASA Project to the children. The lesson then focused on identifying letters and learning their sounds, helping students aged 5–10 years old improve their basic reading skills.

This first Saturday class marks a meaningful beginning for the children and the volunteers. Through patience, care, and teamwork, PAGbASA continues to guide young learners and help them develop a love for reading and learning.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
