More than 100 families from Sitio Bais, Barangay Yubo, La Carlota City, who have been staying at Yubo Elementary School since the October eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, received essential assistance through the Neg50s donation drive and relief operation organized by the Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. (HBONI) and its partners.

The evacuees have been unable to return home after both the volcanic eruption and the onslaught of Typhoon Tino brought significant hazards to their community. According to the PTA President of Yubo Elementary School, landslides in Sitio Bais—caused by the combination of typhoon damage and volcanic activity—have made the area unsafe for residents. In response, the LGU of Barangay Yubo is working to secure a relocation site where displaced families can safely rebuild and start anew.

On November 15, HBONI, together with Brigada News FM Kabankalan, L.N. Agustin Farm Inc., the Little Hummingbirds in Action Foundation, the 94th Infantry Battalion, and other partner groups, visited the evacuation center at Yubo Elementary School to distribute relief goods. Families received clothes, drinking water, hygiene kits, rice, and other essential items to help them cope with their stay in the evacuation site.

The Neg50s initiative reflects the collaborative effort of humanitarian partners committed to supporting disaster-stricken communities, offering hope and continued assistance as families work toward recovery and long-term stability.
