Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. (HBONI) joined in a mangrove bagging activity on August 23, 2025, at the Provincial Mangrove Nursery Extension in Sitio Malusay, Brgy. Caradio-an, Himamaylan City, together with the 79 partner individuals, organizations, and associations.

The event was spearheaded by the Sara-et Small Fishermen Association (SASFA) as part of its 3rd Annual Bagging activity, in collaboration with Project KASIKA, a grassroots initiative that seeks to empower marginalized and under-represented children of fisherfolk and the youth from coastal and riparian communities.

Participants worked hand in hand in preparing mangrove seedlings, an essential step toward strengthening coastal ecosystems, protecting shorelines, and promoting climate resilience.

HBONI, along with the diverse network of groups present, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and community empowerment. The activity highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental and social challenges faced by coastal communities.

SASFA’s annual mangrove bagging initiative continues to serve as a platform for building partnerships, raising awareness on marine conservation, and inspiring youth and fisherfolk to play an active role in safeguarding natural resources for future generations.*
