Ninety children from Sitio Balatogan in Barangay Buenavista in Himamaylan City received hygiene kits on July 26, 2025, as part of a health-nutrition drive organized by the Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. (HBONI).

The initiative aimed to address basic hygiene needs while promoting personal care as a vital aspect of overall wellness, in partnership with the Association of Negros Producers Incorporated (ANP), Brigada News Kabankalan, and the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion.

Alongside the hygiene kits, parents received six sacks of pre-loved clothing, donated by various supporters.

Hope Builders Andrelyn Bello and Waren Geronca led storytelling sessions that taught the children lessons about health, nutrition, and environmental stewardship in an engaging format.

Bello emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “This is more than a donation. It’s a message of care, of presence, and of hope.”

“Through Lakbay Turo, we ensure that children do not only receive material aid but are also empowered with knowledge and values that help them grow healthy and strong,” she added.

The 94th Infantry Battalion supported the event by providing security and assisting with logistics, fostering a positive connection with the community.

In a meeting with parents, ANP’s Head for External Affairs, Ms. Sybel Nobleza, discussed local resources and plans to form an association to protect the community’s environment.

On the other hand, Brigada News Kabankalan as HBONI’s partner radio station, worked hand-in-hand in promoting impactful stories and unique practices that would highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the community.

By broadcasting the realities and concerns of rural sitios, Brigada News serves as a vital link between citizens and local government units (LGUs), urging them to respond with concrete support and long-term solutions.

Sitio Balatogan, a geographically isolated area, often struggles with access to basic services. This collaborative effort brought not only resources but also renewed morale among the residents, who expressed deep gratitude for the visit.

As HBONI continues its purpose across Negros Island, the organization remains steadfast in its mission: to build hope, one community at a time through education, compassion, and partnerships.*
