An ancient proverb tells us, “it takes a village to raise a child.” In a world that’s often fast-paced and individualistic, this timeless truth has never been more relevant.
The Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Incorporated (HBONI), through its Neighborhood-Parent Support Group (NPSG), came together with local purok officials on February 20, 2025, in Sitio Paco Purok 11, Barangay Aguisan in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, to host an event that would leave a mark on the lives of 50 early-grade learners, proving that it really “takes a village to raise a child.”
The program was designed to engage young minds while also addressing the critical aspects of their well-being. It featured a nutrition program, aimed at educating both parents and children on the importance of healthy eating.
But it didn’t stop there. With games, activities, and group exercises that were both fun and educational, the day provided a well-rounded experience for the children, fostering both learning and teamwork.
These early-grade learners, ranging from first to third graders, were not only recipients of knowledge—they were active participants in a community effort to empower them for the future.
NPSG Aguisan, a coalition of passionate parents and community members, understands that true progress can only be achieved when everyone plays their part.
By focusing on foundational learning, the group is ensuring that every child in the community is equipped with the tools they need to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Even with just limited resources at hand, the organization continues to act as a bridge among community members that are passionate toward making a difference and impact.*
