Volunteers from Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. (HBONI) participated in a tree growing activity organized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Tree Park in Barangay 3-Poblacion, Himamaylan City.
The tree growing, led by Police Staff Master Sergeant Clarence Mayongue and supervised by Police Lieutenant Colonel Anthony G. Grande, drew volunteers who planted 70 Narra seedlings. Ronald Trinio from the City Agriculture Office oversaw the activity, noting the importance of using native species like Narra for reforestation and ecological balance.
Aside from HBONI, the event also had the participation of the various city’s uniform personnel, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the SK Councils of Brgy. 4-Poblacion and Brgy. Caradio-an, and Mayor Raymund Tongson (MRT) Youth, which their presence conveys a civic responsibility and unity.

This event was part of the broader celebration of the 29th Police Community Relations Month, themed “Ligtas Ka sa Bagong Pilipinas.” This theme emphasizes safety and community well-being, aligning perfectly with environmental initiatives. By organizing such activities, the PNP aims to strengthen community ties while promoting a safe and sustainable environment.
The participation of HBONI in this initiative underscores the organization’s long-standing commitment to environmental conservation, especially in raising awareness about the critical role of trees in combating climate change and enhancing urban environments.
As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, HBONI believes that this initiative serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in protecting our planet.

The event also served as an educational opportunity, as participants learned about the ecological benefits of trees and the need for ongoing conservation efforts.
As the seedlings take root, they will not only beautify the area but also contribute to cleaner air, provide habitats for wildlife, and promote a healthier ecosystem. This tree planting initiative is just one of many steps towards fostering a more sustainable future, where communities work hand in hand to protect and nurture the environment.*
